From there, experience the ancient Khmer ruins of Wat Phou, a UNESCO World Heritage site, before heading to the idyllic 4000 Islands region on Don Det.

Arrive in Pakse, the gateway to Southern Laos and the Mekong region. Upon arrival, our friendly guide will welcome you and assist with your transfer to the hotel. Spend your first day getting acquainted with the vibrant town of Pakse. You can explore the local market for a taste of Lao culture, with an array of fresh produce, traditional handicrafts, and street food that represents the local flavor. If you have time, enjoy a visit to Wat Luang Pakse, a beautiful riverside temple and a serene introduction to the region’s spiritual life. Wrap up the day with a relaxing stroll along the Mekong River to enjoy a stunning sunset.

Embark on an eco-adventure to the Bolaven Plateau, known for its lush greenery, abundant waterfalls, and world-renowned coffee. Start the day by visiting a local coffee plantation, where you’ll learn about the history and process of coffee cultivation in Laos. You’ll have the opportunity to taste freshly brewed coffee from one of the most famous coffee-growing regions in Southeast Asia.
Continue to Tad Fane Waterfall, a magnificent twin waterfall set amidst dense jungle, offering incredible photo opportunities and a serene environment. Next, hike to Tad Yuang Waterfall, where you can take in the cooling mist and even enjoy a swim in the natural pool if the water level is suitable. In addition to the waterfalls, explore the plateau’s stunning viewpoints and interact with local farmers who maintain a traditional lifestyle. Return to Pakse in the evening to relax after an active day.

After breakfast, head to Wat Phou, an ancient Khmer temple complex dating back to the 5th century and now a UNESCO World Heritage site. Wander through the temple’s tiered levels, admiring the intricate stone carvings and learning about its spiritual significance in Lao culture. From the top of Wat Phou, enjoy a breathtaking view over the surrounding plains and the Mekong River, offering a tranquil and mystical atmosphere.
After the temple visit, continue south to Don Det in the 4000 Islands (Si Phan Don) area, a cluster of islands scattered across the Mekong River. Upon arrival, settle into your accommodation on the island and unwind. Don Det offers a laid-back island experience, where you can explore local villages, enjoy riverside views, or take a leisurely bike ride along quiet paths.

Today, experience the scenic beauty and historical charm of the 4000 Islands region on a cycling tour. Start your day by biking through Don Det and its neighboring island, Don Khone, connected by an old French-built bridge. Along the way, discover remnants of the French colonial era, including the fascinating French Railway, built in the early 20th century to transport goods around the waterfalls that interrupt the Mekong’s flow. This railway is a unique reminder of French influence in Laos and one of the only railway lines ever built in the country.
Continue cycling to the French Port, once used for shipping during the colonial period, where you’ll learn about its role in the region’s trade history. Next, visit the Liphi Waterfalls (also known as Somphamit Falls), a stunning natural attraction that played a significant role in the French efforts to navigate the Mekong. Here, enjoy the sight of cascading waters set against lush jungle and hear stories about the colonial challenges posed by this powerful river.
Conclude the day with a leisurely ride back to Don Det, taking in the tranquil island atmosphere and riverside views. Spend the evening relaxing at your accommodation or exploring the local village.

Enjoy a relaxed breakfast on Don Det with final views of the Mekong River. Spend your last morning taking a stroll around the island or picking up some local souvenirs before heading back to Pakse. Our team will assist with the transfer back to Pakse for your departure, ensuring a smooth end to your journey.
